Question 1 Ann had thrice as much money as Ben. After Ann received $4 and Ben received $10 from their parents, both had the same amount of money. How much money did they have altogether at first? 

Question 2 Karen had some pens to give her friends. If she gave each friend 3 pens, she would have 2 pens left over. If she gave each friend 4 pens, she would need another 3 pens. How many pens did Karen have? 

Question 3 Ali and Betty had a total of 76 pies at first. After Betty bought 15 more pies and Ali lost 8 pies, Betty now has 3 more pies than Ali. Find the number of pies Betty had at first. 

Question 4 The bird park has 50 cranes. Some cranes are standing on two legs while some are standing on one leg. Anabelle counted a total of 79 standing legs. How many cranes are standing on one leg? 

Question 5 Joe is 9 years old. His mother is 23 years older than him. In how many year’s time will Joe be half of his mother’s age? 

Question 6 Jim paid a total of $176 for 3 shirts and 4 pair of shorts. If each pair of shorts costs twice as much as a shirt, how much do 3 pairs of shorts cost? 

Question 7 There are some spoons, forks and knives in a basket. There are twice as many spoons as forks. There are 16 more forks than knives. If there are 91 knives, how many spoons are there? Round off your answer to the nearest ten. 

Question 8 Six teams took part in a netball tournament. If each team plays against every other team once, how many games are played altogether? 

Question 9 Tammy bought some pies for her friends. Each pie cost $2. For every pie she bought, she was given one pie free. If Tammy spent $20, how many pies did she bring home? 

Question 10 Ray and Ned went to a trade fair with the same amount of money. After Ray spent $450 on a laptop and Ned spent $300 on a camera, Ned had thrice as much as Ray left. How much money did each of them bring to the trade fair at first? 

Question 11 Ali, George and Wayne have a total of 360 paper clips. George has 20 more paper clips than Ali. Wayne has twice the total number of paper clips that Ali and George have. How many more paper clips has Wayne than Ali? 

Question 12 2 bags of sugar and 1 packet of sweets cost $18. If each packet of sweets cost $3 more than a bag of sugar, find the cost of a bag of sugar. 

Question 13 A motorcycle has 2 wheels and a car has 4 wheels. There are 14 cars and motorcycles in all. There are 48 wheels altogether. How many cars are there?

There were 3 boxes P, Q and R. Box P contained 4 times as many beads as Box R. Box Q contained 24 beads less than Box P. Box R contained half as many beads as Box Q. (a) Find the number of beads in Box P. (b) 4 boys took all the beads from the 3 boxes and shared among themselves equally. How many beads did each boy get? 

Question 15 Ken has some $10 and $50 notes. The notes add up to $350 in total. There are 5 more $10 notes than $50 notes. How many $10 notes does Mary have? 

Question 16 A pan and a tray cost $80. A pan and a knife cost $100. A knife and a tray cost $95. What is the cost of 2 similar pans?

Question 20 A concert ticket cost $10. For every 7 tickets bought, 2 tickets will be given free. Find the total cost of all the tickets for a group of 45 people.
